Activities and events will be held in and around the Wild Mile during the week of April 22, 2019. Help us celebrate Earth Day and this amazing opportunity on the Chicago River!

Saturday, April 27 - Wild Mile Canoe Trip with Kayak Chicago
Kayak Chicago | 1501 N. Magnolia Ave. | 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Join us for a tour of the Wild Mile and the existing floating wetland installations in Kayak Chicago’s 15-person canoe. We’ll have 3, one-hour time slots between 10 am and 2 pm available. Each group will go through safety training prior to getting out on the water.
Saturday, April 27 - Hands-on Garden Activity with REI and Urban Rivers
REI | 905 W. Eastman St. | 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Get your hands dirty and learn about native plants and river ecology. We’ll get an up-close look at the Urban River floating wetland rafts, make seed bombs and launch them into the Wild Mile. The event will be located on the Riverwalk at REI’s newest Chicago location.

Monday, April 22 - The Original Earth Day River Cruise with Wendella and Friends of the Chicago River
Wendella Boats | 400 N. Michigan Ave. | 11:30am to 1:30pm
Boarding begins at 11 am from the Wendella dock. Tickets are $25 and include a light lunch. Students and non-profit partners are $10. Beverages are available for purchase on the boat. In the event of cold weather, Wendella boats have a climate-controlled lounge. All ticket revenue will go to Friends to support habitat restoration, water quality protections, and public outreach. Please note that the boat is accessible for individuals using wheelchairs.

Monday, April 22 - Earth Day River Clean Up with Groupon
600 W. Chicago Ave Lobby | 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Meet at the 600 W. Chicago Lobby at 4pm. Help pick up litter on land along the Wild Mile. Clean up supplies will be provided. Come dressed for the weather!
Tuesday, April 23 - Whole Foods Social with We All Live Here
Whole Foods Market | 1550 N. Kingsbury St. | 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Join us to learn about the Wild Mile, help create an Art Installation and enjoy refreshments provided by Whole Foods. Event will be held in the Red Star Bar on the mezzanine level of the store.

Friday, April 26 - Wendella Boat Tour
Chicago Water Taxi-North Avenue Stop | 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Join us for a free tour of the Chicago River to learn about the Wild Mile! Boarding begins at 6:00 pm from the North Ave Water Taxi stop. We’ll tour the North Branch from North Ave down to the Main Branch and Riverwalk. We’ll stop to view Art on the Mart. Please note that the boat is accessible for individuals using wheelchairs.
